Ionescu at the start of the It. Sport Prototypes Champ.

Victor Ionescu, a 17-year-old rising star from Romania, is set to write a new chapter in his racing career as he makes his debut in the 2025 Italian Sport Prototypes Championship. The talented driver joins the prestigious Wolf Racing Cars Academy, an opportunity he considers a milestone in his professional journey.

Ionescu, who has already gained attention on the international motorsport stage with his performances in the 2023 Radical Romania series, showcased his potential during the Steering Wheel Award organized by Wolf Racing Cars. Behind the wheel of the Wolf GB08 Raiden, he impressed the team’s technicians with his mastery and technical skills, earning himself a place on the team.

Driver’s statements
“I am thrilled to announce that I will participate in the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship and join the Wolf Academy,” said Victor. “This opportunity is a milestone in my racing career, and I am eager to contribute to the team’s success. Joining Wolf Racing Cars is an honor, as the company has established itself as a top-tier manufacturer in the motorsport world. Their dedication to innovation and excellence in racing aligns perfectly with my aspirations as a driver.
I am excited to learn from my teammates and the experienced staff, and I believe we can achieve great results together. I want to thank the entire Wolf Racing Cars team for believing in me and offering me this incredible opportunity. Their support and guidance mean a lot to me, and I am committed to giving my all to make them proud. I look forward to tackling the challenges ahead and representing Romania in the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship.”

A talent discovered through data
Giovanni Bellarosa, Team Principal of Wolf Racing Cars, shared an intriguing backstory about Victor’s recruitment:
“Victor’s case is truly unique. During the exercises in the Steering Wheel Award contest, for some reason, he didn’t score high enough to be among the top positions. However, when our technicians analyzed the acquisition data and onboard footage the week following the event, they were deeply impressed by his technical abilities. That’s when we decided we wanted him in our Academy and in the CISP. We can’t wait to start working with him.”

A promising future in the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship
Victor Ionescu’s debut with Wolf Racing Cars is not only a significant milestone for the young driver but also a testament to the team’s ability to identify and nurture emerging talent. With the support of an outstanding team and a cutting-edge car like the Wolf GB08 Raiden, Ionescu is determined to make his mark in the world of sports competitions.

All that remains is to wait for the start of the 2025 Italian Sport Prototypes Championship to see Victor Ionescu take to the track, proudly representing Romania and Wolf Racing Cars.
