Wolf Racing Cars Steering Wheel Award 2027: applications open for the third edition of the talent development program launching the next generation of Motorsport drivers
Wolf Racing Cars has officially opened applications for the Steering Wheel Award 2027, the selection and development program that offers young karting drivers a concrete opportunity to transform their talent into a professional motorsport career.
Following the success of the first two editions, which attracted more than 70 young drivers from around the world and awarded support contributions exceeding €300,000 in total, the Steering Wheel Award returns with an even more advanced format, confirming its position as one of the most innovative talent development initiatives in Italian motorsport.
The 2027 edition will take place from 9 to 12 November 2026 at the Levante Circuit in Binetto, featuring four days dedicated to theoretical training, technical development, and on-track driver evaluation. The overall winner will receive a fully funded seat in the 2027 Italian Sport Prototypes Championship, while financial contributions worth a total of €150,000 will be awarded to the highest-ranked participants.
"The Steering Wheel Award was created to provide young drivers with a genuine opportunity for professional growth, giving them the chance to demonstrate their potential within a merit-based and highly educational environment," explains Giovanni Bellarosa, Founder of Wolf Racing Cars. "Over the years, we have seen drivers coming directly from karting develop into competitors ready to take on a national championship, confirming the value and effectiveness of this project."
A real bridge between karting and car racing
The Steering Wheel Award is not simply a competition based on lap times. The program was designed to identify and develop the qualities that define a professional racing driver: learning ability, technical awareness, work ethic, teamwork, and long-term growth potential.
Participants will have the opportunity to drive the Wolf GB08 Raiden, the official car of the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship, while following a structured program that combines classroom sessions, professional coaching, telemetry analysis, data interpretation, and on-track activities under the supervision of Wolf Racing Cars' technical staff.
Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of experienced motorsport professionals including Giovanni Bellarosa, Founder & COO of Wolf Racing Cars; Angelo Sala, CTO and Race Engineer; Maurizio Bellarosa, CEO and Head of the Drivers Academy; and Ivan Bellarosa, racing driver and coach of the Wolf Academy, who has become a key reference point for young talents pursuing their development within the Brescia-based manufacturer's racing programs.
Prizes and opportunities for the most promising talents
The winner of the Steering Wheel Award 2027 will receive a fully funded season in the 2027 Italian Sport Prototypes Championship.
In addition, financial contributions totaling €150,000 will be awarded to the top four finishers, while the top eight drivers in the final standings will gain access to the Wolf Academy, the development program dedicated to the technical and professional growth of emerging motorsport talent.
This represents a unique opportunity for young drivers to make the transition from karting to car racing within a category that has become a credible alternative to traditional single-seater training formulas, combining high technical standards with more sustainable costs.
