Wolf Racing Cars and BOSS GP Racing Series unveil the new Wolf GB08 Sonik
Wolf Racing Cars marks its return to the open-wheel single-seater segment more than forty years after its Formula 1 World Championship campaign between 1977 and 1980, with the unveiling of the all-new Wolf GB08 Sonik — a car engineered for ultimate performance and primarily designed to compete in the BOSS GP Racing Series.
The GB08 Sonik has been developed with a clear objective: to provide teams and drivers with a modern, high-performance single-seater optimized for the BOSS GP environment, while maintaining a high level of operational accessibility. The project targets both championship front-runners and drivers seeking an extreme machine capable of delivering a top-tier driving experience.
From a technical standpoint, the Wolf GB08 Sonik features dimensions in line with the latest generation of Formula 1 cars and is powered by a 5.2-litre Ford V8 engine paired with a 6-speed transverse gearbox, both developed within the Wolf Powertrains range. The car can be configured with either 13-inch or 18-inch tyres, offering flexibility depending on usage requirements and championship specifications.
“We are pleased to collaborate with BOSS GP and strongly believe in the growth of the series. This was the key factor behind the development of a single-seater that fully represents Wolf Racing Cars’ know-how,” said Giovanni Bellarosa, Owner of Wolf Racing Cars. “The car will be available in two versions: one specifically designed for BOSS GP competition with 13-inch tyres, and an alternative configuration featuring 18-inch tyres and a powertrain capable of delivering up to 1,050 horsepower.”
Keke Platzer, the Championship Coordinator of the BOSS GP Racing Series, commented: ‘It’s great to see a highly decorated racing car manufacturer like Wolf Racing Cars decide to take part in BOSS GP. This project further strengthens the positioning of our series as a unique platform for big open single-seaters from the last two to three decades, and opens up new opportunities for growth within the championship.”
With the GB08 Sonik, Wolf Racing Cars expands its lineup and reinforces its commitment to the development of high-performance racing machinery, offering a concrete solution for those aiming to compete at the highest level in a competitive and ever-evolving environment such as the BOSS GP Racing Series.
