After a brilliant career in international karting, seventeen-year-old Christian Canonica is ready to take a big step into the world of motorsport. The Ticino driver, originally from Biasca, will make his debut in the Italian Sport Prototypes Championship (CISP), a competition that is increasingly becoming a breeding ground for young motorsport talents.
Canonica perfectly embodies CISP's new approach, which aims to promote emerging talents. His journey has already marked significant milestones, including third place in the Steering Wheel Award 2025, the contest organized by Wolf Racing Cars for ambitious kart drivers. The victory went to Simone Bianco, who secured a free season in the championship, but Canonica also impressed with his qualities and earned a prominent place in the team's Academy.
"Facing this new challenge is an extraordinary opportunity," said Canonica. "I am excited to represent Switzerland in such a competitive championship. I will give my utmost commitment to learn as much as possible from my team and seize every opportunity to grow as a professional driver."
Wolf Racing Cars Team Principal Giovanni Bellarosa expressed great confidence in the young Swiss driver: "Christian is one of the eight drivers we are investing in through our Academy. Work with our engineers and specialists has already begun, and we are eager to see them in action. The first official tests with the Wolf GB08 Raiden will take place in Binetto from February 24 to 27, a key moment to assess their potential on the track."
The Italian Sport Prototypes Championship will kick off on the weekend of May 3-4 at the prestigious Misano Adriatico circuit, where Canonica will have his first opportunity to test himself against the best talents in the category.
